ai.Jyothish ("the app", "we", "us") is a Vedic astrology app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how, in plain language.
Your birth chart data — name, date/time of birth, birth location, saved chart profiles, chat history, and app preferences — is stored locally in the app's on-device database. We do not operate a central user database and never see this data unless you explicitly use one of the optional cloud features below.
Your PIN/biometric login is handled entirely by your device's own security (Android BiometricPrompt or a local PIN check). Biometric data (fingerprint, face) never leaves your device and is never accessible to us — the app only receives a yes/no "authenticated" result from the OS.
If you tap "use my location" while entering a birth place, the app requests your device's GPS location (coarse or fine, depending on what you grant) to help pre-fill coordinates. This is processed on-device and is not sent to us or stored on any server.
If you search for a birth city by name, the text you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service (a third party, not affiliated with us) to look up matching places. See Nominatim's usage policy.
By default, AI chat and predictions run fully on-device (Google's Gemini Nano, or a bundled offline model) — nothing about your chart leaves your phone.
If you subscribe to premium "Frontier AI Chat" or generate a premium AI report, your messages and a summary of your chart are sent to our backend (hosted on Cloudflare) and relayed to OpenAI to generate a response. This only happens when you actively use these specific paid features.
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card details. To confirm you have an active subscription before unlocking premium AI features, the app sends your Google Play purchase token to our backend, which verifies it directly with Google.
Daily Astro reminders are scheduled locally on your device using Android's notification system. No data is sent to us or any push-notification server to deliver them.
We use Sentry, a third-party crash-reporting service, to automatically collect technical crash reports and error logs (e.g. device model, OS version, app version, stack traces) when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error. This helps us find and fix bugs. We do not intentionally include your birth chart data, chat messages, or other personal astrological information in these reports.
We don't sell your data. The only outside parties that ever receive data from the app, and only in the specific situations above, are:
ai.Jyothish is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
